Joël Ménard Awards

Applications are open for the 2025 Joël Ménard award. It honors physicians and scientists in their early career and for their contributions to Alzheimer’s disease and Alzheimer related disorders. The award is given to individuals with an outstanding record of accomplishment in any of the following areas: 1) basic research, 2) clinical and translational research, and 3) social and healthcare research (*).

(*) Applications in the field of neuropsychology should be submitted under the clinical and translational category.

/ Applicant profile

  1. Candidates holding a university doctorate degree (PhD) obtained no later than 10 years ago; (delay applicable on the start date of the contract or at the latest on January 1 of the year following the application)
  2. Candidates holding a medical doctorate (MD) and university doctorate degrees (PhD), MD obtained no later than 15 years ago (delay applicable on the start date of the contract or at the latest on January 1 of the year following the application)
  3. Candidates working in France, either in a research laboratory or clinical unit in the public or private sector
  4. All disciplines are eligible, including biology, imaging, genetics, chemistry, medicine, clinical research, public health, economy, sociology, ethics, etc.
  5. No nationality requirement

/ Research contribution

Research contribution should be in the fields of Alzheimer’s disease, Lewy body dementia, Parkinson dementia, frontotemporal dementia, corticobasal syndrome, progressive supranuclear palsy, primary progressive aphasia (all types), and posterior cortical atrophy. Considering the importance of sex/gender within these fields, such factor should be assessed while addressing the main scientific question. The Fondation Alzheimer encourages strongly open science and patient and public involvement in research.

/ Budget

The amount per awardee is of 5 000€.

The application must be submitted in English via Proposal Central. Please note that you need an ORCID account to complete the application process.

  • Submission deadline: April 4th 2025, 23:59 (Paris time)
  • Selection period: May-June 2025
  • Award ceremony: December 2025, during the annual scientific meeting

/ Selection

The selection by the Scientific Advisory Board of Fondation Alzheimer is based on the applicant career and research achievements (ex: international collaborations, participation to open science, mentorship, publication track record, etc.).

The Board reserves its right not to grant awards if applications do not meet the selection criteria.
