One of the major challenges in advancing the fight against Alzheimer’s disease and Alzheimer related disorders is to ensure a significant increase in critical mass of internationally skilled researchers. In this context, the Fondation Alzheimer is launching the 2025 International Visiting Scholar Program to enable investigators working in France to expand their research skills during one year maximum abroad in a foreign academic laboratory, with the objective to develop new approaches and to initiate collaborative research upon return to France.
/ Applicant profile
- Applicants holding a tenure track position in France and working in an academic research laboratory
- Applicants working in the field of Alzheimer’s disease and related diseases
/ Research projet
The applicant must develop a scientific project in basic, clinical and translational, or social and healthcare research. Research contribution should be in the fields of Alzheimer’s disease, Lewy body dementia, Parkinson dementia, frontotemporal dementia, corticobasal syndrome, progressive supranuclear palsy, primary progressive aphasia (all types), and posterior cortical atrophy. Considering the importance of sex/gender within these fields, such factor should be assessed while addressing the main scientific question. In addition, the applicant will develop/learn new technical and/or methodological skills, and he/she must access all necessary resources useful to the proposed project. The Fondation Alzheimer encourages strongly open science and patient and public involvement in research.
/ Budget
The foundation provides individual compensatory funds to cover the mission costs, for up to 12 months (with a maximum of 100 000€ for 12 months).

/ Selection
The selection by the Scientific Advisory Board of Fondation Alzheimer is based on the applicant profile, the quality and feasibility of the project as well as the new scientific contribution to the French laboratory upon return.
